Challenger brand, smol achieves B-Corp certification

Challenger brand, smol, has announced its B-Corp certification, continuing its mission to revolutionise how the UK cleans, by challenging the plastic, chemicals and carbon produced by industry giants.  Highlighting their ambition since launch to be a different, better business – whether via challenging the impact smol have on the industry as well as their own impact within the business, with the community and their customers.

Core to smol’s achievement has been the development of its portfolio of award winning, high-performance, innovative cleaning products that contain minimal to no plastic such as dishwasher tablets, laundry capsules and multi purpose sprays that not only work brilliantly but are better for the planet. Sustainably packaged and delivered direct to the door, each month smol products save hundreds of thousands of water bottles’ worth of plastic and keep tonnes of chemicals from rinsing into our waterways. More recently smol launched a vegan and fully plastic-free range of personal care products including a body and shampoo bar, toothpaste and the UK’s first plastic-free antiperspirant.

Additionally, smol actively addresses Hygiene Poverty through its Donate-a-Wash Scheme and Suds in Schools project; run in conjunction with the Hygiene Bank. To date smol and their customers have donated over 1 million washes to those of us experiencing hygiene poverty via the charity’s volunteers, and installed over 50 mini laundrettes in schools across the UK, providing parents, teachers, and guardians with convenient facilities to ensure that children have access to clean clothes.

“We are thrilled to announce that smol is now a certified B-Corp,”  said Nick Green, co-founder at smol. “Cleaning and laundry are huge markets – these are products that all of us buy and use, day in, day out. When we launched back in 2018 we were determined to bring something better – better for the planet and for customers. Our smol revolution against plastic was all about shaking things up, being a different kind of business. This certification not only is a testament to that vision, but also to becoming part of a community of like minded businesses and innovators.”

The B-Corp certification process evaluates a company’s impact on its workers, customers, community, and the environment. smol’s successful certification demonstrates its dedication to balancing profit with purpose and meeting the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance.
